‘Aurora’ depicst a pensive woman and is the 1st one of a collection, which Tonna is producing at the moment.
This portrait is executed in chiaroscuro.
Biography:
Maria Tonna categorizes herself as a Classic Painter, although she appreciates and respects other styles. She always found such love for Classic Art, also in Classic Music maybe reflecting the fact that she was grown up in a Classic environment, as her grandfather was a Classic Music Composer.
She works in various media, however her favourite media are pencils and oils.
The subject which always fascinated her is the human expression, especially the pensive ones. She always
studies the features attentively, trying and practicing in achieving likeness, as can be seen in her extensive oeuvre of portraits in pencil.
She loves to explore pensive facial expressions especially those of women. Reason being that she believes that a woman is strong enough to hold life torments inside, suffering in silence ...although her eyes reflects it all.. and this is what her painting in this exhibition is all about.
